Who we are
FatCatCatalog (“we,” “us”) is a membership society and shop based in Brooklyn, New York. This policy explains what personal data we handle when you browse the catalog, create a profile for your cat, become a member, or place an order. It applies to fatcatcatalog.com and our related services.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Account data — your name, email, password (hashed), and shipping address.
- Cat profile data — your cat's name, breed, weight, measurements, photos, and the story you share.
- Order data — items purchased, order history, and delivery details.
- Community activity — posts, buddy-list connections, and Cat-of-the-Week nominations.
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and how you navigate the site (see Cookies).
How we use it
We use your data to:
- Operate your account, publish your cat's profile, and deliver the membership volumes.
- Process and ship orders, and handle returns and support.
- Send service emails (order confirmations, shipping updates) and, if you opt in, our newsletter.
- Keep the catalog safe — moderating content and preventing fraud or abuse.
- Understand aggregate usage so we can improve fit, sizing, and the reading experience.
Your cat's profile
Cat profiles are public by design — that is the point of the catalog. You choose what to publish at signup, and can delete your account — and with it your cat's public profile — at any time from your dashboard. Editing individual fields after publishing is launching soon; until then, email privacy@fatcatcatalog.com to correct anything. Photos you upload are processed only to display them; we do not train models on your cat, nor do we sell their likeness.
Payments & security
The shop is not yet accepting real payments — checkout currently runs as a demonstration only, and no card data is sent to or stored by us. When checkout goes live, payments will be handled by a PCI-compliant processor; card details will be entered on their secure form and tokenized, and we will store only the minimum receipt information needed for your order history and refunds. All traffic to the site is encrypted in transit. We recommend keeping your account password unique and not sharing your login.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data, or request deletion of your account and cat profiles.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and opt out of marketing email at any time.
- Receive a portable copy of your data.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@fatcatcatalog.com. We respond within the timeframes required by law.
Retention
We keep account and order data for as long as your account is active and for the period needed to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations afterward. Cat profile content is removed promptly when you delete it. Aggregate, de-identified analytics may be kept longer.
